Why is a Center Cut so hard?

I’m working on a project for a client that uses 16:9 source material. They need a 4:3 output.

On a PC Avid Newscutter that is pretty much an impossible task.

The path of least resistance is actually to export 16:9 Same as Source, import into After Effects, and let AE do the math. You export whatever size raster you want.

Amazing that the market leader falls down on something that seems that simple.

That's why I love the AJA stuff with Final Cut. It will do all your cross conversion center cut etc. all real time on output.

Got an 16×9 HD sequence and need a 4×3 DVCAM? We can do that. Want that 4×3 letterboxed? No problem. Oh wait, your HD is 24p? Let us handle that for you. Your project is in 720p24 and you need to deliver 1080i60? Just click right here, drop down there, and you're good to go.

You can literally go from anything to anything through those cards.

That's nice to know- funny how the aftermarket is quick to fix the issues on the big producers.

I've always had good luck with AJA products, too.
